Ato Forson oversees AfDB Presidential Elections

Ghana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has a new role. He is the Returning Officer for the African Development Bank (AfDB) Presidential Elections. This event will take place during the Bank’s 2025 Annual Meetings.

Dr. Forson’s position is significant in Africa’s financial decision-making. Five candidates are competing to replace Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, who has led the Bank for ten years.

As Returning Officer, Dr. Forson must ensure a credible and transparent voting process. His responsibilities include confirming ballot integrity and verifying vote counts. He will also reject any invalid submissions to maintain election integrity.
