Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has strongly criticized the government’s €140 million plan to purchase ships for the Ghana Navy, labeling it as wasteful and ill-timed.

Speaking in Parliament on Monday, he argued the proposal would impose unnecessary financial strain on the nation, especially as the government nears the end of its term.

Dr. Forson vowed that the Minority NDC would block any tax waivers or loans tied to the expenditure, emphasizing their commitment to protecting Ghana’s fiscal stability.

He warned against approving policies that would constrain the incoming administration and urged the government to focus on pressing national issues.

Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul defended the purchase, asserting its importance for naval operations and revealing IMF approval for the loan.
