Ato Forson won’t steal your Ghc 1 like others did – Gyampo on fuel levy

Prof. Ransford Gyamfi, CEO of the Shippers Authority, supports the government's fuel tax.

He believes this government will be accountable to Ghanaians. He contrasts it with the previous government, which mismanaged funds.

Gyamfi is confident that Ghanaians prefer paying for solutions, not theft. He expressed his views in a Facebook post.

He defended Finance Minister Ato Forson, stating he will use funds properly. Gyamfi thinks the previous government left a significant mess behind.

He argues that paying Ghc 1 per litre will help fix this mess. His opinion stated: “Ghanaians would rather pay 1 cedi for solutions than see money stolen.”

Parliament has passed the Fuel Levy, adding Ghc 1 to every litre of fuel purchased.

The levy has faced criticism but government officials defend it as necessary for energy sector challenges.

Some policy analysts warn that the levy may increase prices of goods and services. They suggest it could lead to higher transport fees and other costs.
