Former Works and Housing Minister Samuel Atta Akyea has criticized Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine’s decision to discontinue the Saglemi affordable housing case against Asutifi South MP Collins Dauda.
Atta Akyea argued that instead of dropping the charges, the AG should have included him in the case if fairness was the concern.
In an interview with The Law Lab, he dismissed the rationale behind the discontinuation as illogical, questioning why someone accused of financial loss should be freed simply because another suspect was not prosecuted.
Atta Akyea also claimed he was the one who uncovered the alleged financial mismanagement in the $200 million project and alerted the presidency.
The Saglemi case initially implicated five individuals over misappropriation of funds, but legal proceedings have now been halted.
