Atta Akyea questions EOCO’s motives in former NSB director’s bail saga

Samuel Atta Akyea is the lawyer for Kwabena Adu-Boahene. Adu-Boahene is the former Director of the National Signals Bureau (NSB). Atta Akyea has criticized the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO). He claims they imposed unreasonable bail conditions on his client.

In an interview with GHOne TV, he spoke with Bernice Abu-Baidoo. Atta Akyea accused EOCO of misusing bail as punishment. He believes bail should ensure an accused person's availability for trial.

He stated, “Bail is not meant to punish an accused person.” He argued that EOCO's conditions are excessive. They seem designed to keep his client in detention.

Atta Akyea also questioned EOCO’s rejection of reasonable bail options. He said it was an abuse of power. “If someone offers security for bail, why reject it?” he asked.

His comments have raised concerns about fairness in high-profile cases handled by EOCO. As of now, EOCO has not officially responded to these allegations.
