GJA President Albert Kwabena Dwumfour has condemned the brutal assault of three journalists in the Western Region by illegal miners, urging authorities to prosecute the perpetrators and relocate the case to Sekondi for security reasons.
Speaking at a news conference on March 13, 2025, he also criticized the government's slow action on illegal mining, calling on President Mahama to fulfill his promise to end galamsey.
Dwumfour further denounced a court decision shutting down Esewani Community Radio over alleged noise pollution, warning that it threatens press freedom.
He announced plans for World Press Freedom Day on May 2 and urged media participation in the Africa Media Convention in Morocco.
Additionally, he called for urgent repairs of streetlights on major roads to enhance public safety.
