Banking consultant Dr. Richmond Atuahene has questioned the prolonged delay in prosecuting financial sector cases dating back to 2017, asserting that the Attorney General, not the International Monetary Fund (IMF), should be held accountable.
Speaking on Morning Starr, Dr. Atuahene argued that justice seekers should direct their concerns to the Attorney General’s office, rather than expecting the IMF to intervene.
He warned that legal time limitations could hinder future prosecutions if cases remain unresolved.
He also dismissed calls to petition the IMF over the matter, stating that the Fund’s mandate does not include arbitrating financial crimes.
With an IMF delegation set to visit Ghana, Dr. Atuahene emphasized that their focus would be on economic assessments rather than unresolved legal cases.
