Atwima Mponua Assembly, Cadres root for Sakina Oforiwaa as DCE

Sakina Oforiwaa – 2020 Atwima Mponua NDC PC

Young Cadre executives support Sakina Oforiwaa for District Chief Executive.

Members of the Atwima Mponua District Assembly have nominated her. They want President John Dramani Mahama to consider her for the position.

The 37-year-old is preferred over two other candidates shortlisted by the party. About 40 members from the 56-member Assembly back her nomination. This includes Presiding Member Prince Nkrumah Boateng.

They believe Sakina, a professional teacher, has strong management skills. She has effectively represented the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the district through teamwork.

Sakina served as Branch Secretary from 2000 to 2008. She was also a Constituency Campaign Team Member and an Assembly Member from 2009 to 2016. During that time, she participated in several sub-committees, including Finance and Administration.

She was WESCO TEIN President from 2012 to 2013 and is currently a Regional Communication Team Member. Additionally, she has been involved with various committees since 2023 and served as a Polling Station Agent in previous elections.

At a press conference last Friday, Prince Boateng praised Sakina's contributions to the party’s growth. He highlighted her procurement of 30 motorbikes for the upcoming campaign at GHC390,000 each.

Sakina has also donated GHC500 each to candidates for Assembly Member elections in 2024. She contributed GHC2,000 for limited registration organized by the Electoral Commission and provided food support during elections.

Her husband, as constituency chairman, helped donate cutlasses to branch executives. Together they financed campaigns with cars and fuel donations worth hundreds of thousands of cedis.

Prince Boateng described Sakina as development-oriented and dedicated to inclusive leadership. He believes she can effectively promote the President’s Reset Agenda.

The petitioners view Sakina as a woman of integrity committed to community development. Her qualities have earned her respect among traditional authorities and youth groups.

Boateng noted that delays in nominating a DCE have hindered local development this year. He urged President Mahama to nominate Sakina Oforiwaa quickly to advance government initiatives in the district.

Since May 9, concerned Assembly members have petitioned President Mahama for her nomination. They emphasize that selecting Sakina would support Affirmative Action Law goals regarding women's appointments.

Executives of Young Cadres Movement also support this nomination effort. They believe Sakina will drive district development while strengthening party presence locally.

Spokespersons Isaac Ampaabeng, Richard Dapaah, and Kwabena Darko highlighted her sacrifices for party activists' well-being at another press conference.
