Atwima Mponua assembly members demand release of DCE nominee’s name

Assembly Members in the Atwima Mponua District are worried about slow development. They blame this on delays in nominating a District Chief Executive (DCE).

Atwima Mponua and Asante Mampong are the only areas without nominees. Recently, 43 assemblies in the Ashanti Region received DCE nominations. Out of these, 41 have had their executives confirmed and sworn in.

Residents of Asante Mampong and Atwima Mponua are still waiting. This delay affects important development projects in their communities.

Emmanuel Dumfeh, an Assembly member for Ntobroso, said the lack of a DCE hampers coordination. He urged President Mahama to appoint Oforiwaa Sekina as she is a unifier.

Salifu David, an Assembly member for Ananso, echoed this sentiment. Local leaders say the absence of a DCE stalls decisions on infrastructure and sanitation. They want swift action from the President to avoid further delays.

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) also shares these concerns. They emphasize the need for immediate action to prevent stagnation. Communities in Atwima Mponua face poor road conditions and inadequate sanitation issues.
