**The Case Against Boateng**
Boateng and his alleged accomplice, Frank Obeng, face serious charges. They are accused of defrauding Ibrahim Issaka, a footballer from Accra, out of $37,000.
Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder reported that in November 2024, Issaka visited Boateng’s garage in Abelemkpe. He initially showed interest in buying a 2018 Honda Accord but found faults and declined.
Boateng then allegedly showed Issaka pictures of a 2022 Honda CRV. He claimed it was imported from the U.S., awaiting sale. Convinced by this claim, Issaka agreed to buy it for $37,000.
Issaka transferred the money into an account linked to Boateng’s brother, Frank Obeng. However, when delivery was due in December 2024, the vehicle never arrived.
Investigations revealed that Boateng later claimed Obeng had been arrested in the U.S. This prevented completing the transaction. The prosecution noted that Boateng provided no evidence for this claim.
After Issaka complained to the police, Boateng was arrested and charged. Efforts are ongoing to locate Obeng as investigations continue. Court proceedings will resume in May.
