Franklin Cudjoe, the Founding President of IMANI Africa, has criticized Kumasi Mayor Richard Ofori-Agyemang Boadi. The Mayor threatened to publicly lash traders who operate illegally on pavements and roadsides in Adum.
Ofori-Agyemang Boadi gave a two-week ultimatum to these traders. He warned that failure to comply would lead to harsh penalties, including public lashings.
In a Facebook post on April 16, Cudjoe called the Mayor's approach "brute talk." He described it as an outdated tactic that Ghanaians have rejected.
Cudjoe urged the Mayor to enforce the law properly instead of using threats of physical punishment. He stated, “The Kumasi Mayor should only threaten to use the law.”
He added that the mayor should pledge to honor the law instead of resorting to abuse. Cudjoe emphasized that such brute talk is no longer acceptable in governance.
