Avoid party colors on National Day of Prayer – Afriyie-Ankrah warns

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah is the Chairman of the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving Committee. He has warned Ghanaians not to wear political party attire to the event.

The event aims to promote unity and inclusiveness. It focuses on building a prosperous and peaceful Ghana for future generations. “The attire must be white, celebratory, featuring national colours but no party colours,” he emphasized.

Afriyie Ankrah spoke at the media launch in Accra on May 30. The theme for this year’s event is “Reflect, Reset, and Renew for National Prosperity.” It will take place on July 1, 2025.

He explained that the day will unite Christians, Muslims, and other faiths. It will be a time for reflection, renewal, and commitment to national harmony. The Christian segment will occur at the State House from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Muslim prayers will follow at the National Mosque from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM.

Afriyie Ankrah described July 1 as a “bold and unifying decision.” He invited all Ghanaians to gather in gratitude and hope. “This is a sacred moment,” he said. He urged citizens to reflect on their past triumphs and mistakes.

He called for a shift away from blame and greed towards truth and discipline. This event encourages national humility beyond religious boundaries. Whether Christian or Muslim, everyone should pray for Ghana's divine favor.

Afriyie Ankrah noted that different religious practices still share hope for a better Ghana. He also asked the media to support this initiative actively.

“You shape the national conversation daily,” he stated. He urged every media house to promote this patriotic cause across all platforms.

“Help us spread this message of hope throughout every region,” he added. Let July 1 mark the start of spiritual revival in Ghana.
