The Majority Caucus in Parliament plans to investigate financial mismanagement. This includes issues from the former Akufo-Addo administration.
Key areas of focus are COVID-19 fund spending and sole-sourced contracts. Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga emphasized accountability for public officials. He warned that failing to do so would betray Ghanaians' trust in Parliament.
Ayariga stated, "We will demand a full-scale parliamentary investigation into COVID-19 expenditure." He stressed the need for transparency in how emergency funds were used.
Parliament also intends to revisit the Agyapa Royalties deal. This controversial agreement involves monetizing Ghana’s mineral royalties. Additionally, they will seek updates on the $190 million PDS scandal related to power distribution.
In another matter, Ayariga addressed offensive remarks made against Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings. He urged Speaker Alban Bagbin to refer Minority Members involved to the Privileges Committee for investigation.
Ayariga insisted, "We will not leave this matter unresolved." The Majority Caucus demands action regarding potential breaches of Member privileges.
