Former Attorney General Ayikoi Otoo has expressed doubts about the petition filed by Kwame Ofosu-Appiah, seeking the removal of Electoral Commission Chair Jean Mensa and her deputies.
Speaking on Joy News, he argued that the allegations lack sufficient weight to justify dismissal.
Addressing claims of disenfranchisement of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe, and Lolobi (SALL) residents during the 2020 elections, Otoo dismissed them as not meeting the serious threshold required for removal.
He also highlighted that some accusations stem from personal opinions expressed before the officials assumed office, which he deemed irrelevant to their current conduct.
Emphasizing constitutional procedures, Otoo stressed that the Chief Justice must assess the petition's merit, urging caution to avoid undermining national institutions.
