Ayikoi Otoo says fake news worrying in the CJ removal issue

Former Attorney General Ayikoi Otoo is worried about fake news. This misinformation relates to the possible removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.

Otoo spoke on JoyFM’s Newsfile programme on March 29. He noted that false information has caused anxiety and confusion.

His comments come after petitions were submitted to the President. These petitions call for the Chief Justice's removal. The President is consulting with the Council of State about this matter.

He has given the Chief Justice 10 days to respond to the allegations. Otoo believes misleading reports have shaped public perception negatively.

He recalled a past incident involving Zanetor Rawlings. Reports claimed she received a post, but it was untrue. These reports were even on official letterhead from the Office of the President.

Otoo argued that such false claims increase tension around the Chief Justice’s situation. They make people feel uneasy without reason.

He warned against misinformation and urged people to verify facts first. Otoo emphasized allowing due process instead of reacting to unverified claims.
