BIDEC INC, in partnership with the Office of Diaspora Affairs, presented the Star Prize at the Black History Festival 2025. The event took place at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park, Georgia.
This year’s festival celebrated leaders and icons who promote unity and justice for people of African descent. Among the honorees was Benjamin L. Crump, a noted American civil rights attorney.
Crump received the Star Prize alongside President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana and Dr. Mattie McFadden-Lawson from Morehouse College. They were recognized for their leadership and commitment to justice and democracy.
The award ceremony occurred at Jubilee House, Ghana's Presidential office. Distinguished guests included Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), Stephen Selasie Asuo, Prince Anthony Bart Appiah, Nana Dadzie, Daniel Obeng Fianko, and representatives from Ben Crump Law LLC.
KOD presented the Star Prize with support from Prince Anthony and Stephen Selasie Asuo. In his acceptance speech, Crump expressed gratitude for the honor.
He called for renewed commitment to justice and solidarity among African descendants. "This recognition is not just for me," he said, "but for every voice fighting for dignity."
Crump thanked BIDEC INC for organizing the festival that unites people of African descent. He also appreciated KOD's support for diaspora engagement.
KOD stated that Ghana welcomes its diaspora home to collaborate on socioeconomic initiatives. He shared upcoming programs designed by his office for diaspora involvement.
BIDEC INC mentioned a future collaboration with Ben Crump Law LLC to enhance the 2026 Black History Festival.
The 2025 festival marked a significant step in cultural diplomacy and economic empowerment. The next edition is scheduled for March 26-28, 2026, at the same venue in College Park.
