Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former Director of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), is currently in EOCO custody. He has made serious allegations regarding GHC 49 million he supposedly stole.
Adu-Boahene claims that GHC 5.1 million was used to buy three vehicles for President John Mahama. He mentioned a 2024 Nissan Patrol Platinum, a 2024 Nissan Patrol Titanium, and a 2022 Land Cruiser GXR.
He also alleged that this money was paid to a special aide of President Mahama. Additionally, he claimed that GHC 960,000 of the stolen funds went to members of Parliament.
According to him, this payment was made to the Defence and Interior Committee. It aimed to speed up the passage of the National Signals Bureau Act (2020).
In his letter from EOCO custody, Adu-Boahene denied any wrongdoing. He stated that he and his wife would never steal public funds as portrayed by the Attorney-General.
He questioned how one could steal public funds without being flagged by the Auditor-General. He expressed confidence in their integrity and satisfaction with their modest blessings.
Adu-Boahene accused EOCO boss Raymond Archer of misrepresenting facts. He requested urgent intervention to prevent further embarrassment for the government.
An Accra High Court has remanded him for seven working days. This will allow Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine to prepare witness statements against him.
