National Security operatives and police officers have stormed the home of Bernard Antwi Boasiako. He is known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Reports indicate that the operation is ongoing. Security personnel are currently surrounding his residence. The reason for their presence is still unclear.
Some NPP supporters are gathering outside in solidarity. Earlier, Chairman Wontumi questioned President John Dramani Mahama about freezing his accounts.
Wontumi stated he never served under Akufo-Addo’s administration. He asked why the Mahama government was attacking him. He expressed that this treatment was unfair.
In an interview on Wontumi TV, he claimed, “They know Wontumi is winning, so they want to attack me.” He emphasized he has never held a government position or been on any board.
He questioned why his account was closed without reason. “Mahama, your government’s actions against me are not right,” he said.
Wontumi believes this situation stems from personal hatred and wrongful accusations. He urged Mahama to focus on governing after winning the election.
More updates will follow as the situation develops.
