BREAKING: AG charges Adu Boahene and his wife for allegedly stealing GHC49m

Kwabena Adu Boahene, former head of the National Signals Bureau, faces serious charges. He is charged alongside his wife, Angela Adjei-Boateng, and two others. The charges include stealing, fraud, money laundering, and conspiracy.

The state claims they stole GHc 49 million in public funds. The Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, filed 11 charges against them in Accra's High Court.

The specific charges include stealing under the Criminal Offences Act of 1960. They also face conspiracy to steal and defrauding by false pretenses. Other charges involve causing financial loss to the state and using public office for profit.

Mildred Donkor, a former bank relations officer for Adu-Boahene and his wife, is also accused. Advantage Solutions Limited is another accused party linked to them.

Reports indicate that Advantage Solutions Limited is owned by Adu-Boahene and his wife. They allegedly used this company to commit their crimes.

Adu-Boahene served as NSB Director-General from 2017 until February 2025. He is accused of diverting millions into personal accounts.

The Attorney General alleges he misappropriated over $7 million from a cyber defense contract. This contract was signed with an Israeli company named RLC Holdings Limited.

On January 30, 2020, Adu-Boahene signed the contract on behalf of Ghana's government. The deal was for a cyber defense system software costing $7 million.

On February 6, 2020, he transferred GH¢27,100,000 from the NSB account to a private account at UMB. Documentation shows this transfer was labeled for payment of the software but went to his private company instead.

Adu-Boahene and his wife reportedly purchased several properties in Ghana and abroad with these funds. Despite these allegations, he maintains his innocence.

He stated that he has not been formally charged with any crime yet during a recent court appearance.
