Kennedy Agyapong, a former MP and flagbearer aspirant, has withdrawn from the NPP Thank You Tour.
His spokesperson, Armstrong Essah, shared this news with TV3 New Day. Agyapong's decision follows the stabbing of a student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
The victim is linked to Unity Hall (Conti) and was stabbed multiple times during the tour in Bantama. He is currently hospitalized.
The injured student was part of the Jama Group hired by Agyapong. Eyewitnesses reported that a friend of Agyapong gave money to the group after gunmen attacked them.
These gunmen are suspected to be NPP members. An altercation ensued between the Jama group and the attackers, resulting in gunfire. One member of the Jama group was stabbed during this incident.
The injured member was taken to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment. Reports suggest he supports Kennedy Agyapong and was stabbed over a disagreement with other party members.
Agyapong has filed an official complaint with the Ghana Police Service regarding the incident. The injured supporter is still receiving medical care, but no arrests have been made yet by police.
