BREAKING: Mahama sanctions appointees who failed to declare their assets by 31st March

President John Dramani Mahama has taken action against appointees who did not declare their assets.

Those who missed the March 31 deadline will lose three months' salary. This amount will be donated to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, known as Mahama Cares.

Mahama set the asset declaration deadline on February 18, 2025. An update from the Auditor General revealed that some appointees failed to comply.

He stated, “If you were appointed before March 31 and did not declare your assets, you will forfeit three months’ salary.” He added that all appointees must donate one month’s salary to the fund. Therefore, those who missed the deadline owe four months’ salary in total.

Fifty-four appointees have not declared their assets by the deadline. Reports show that nine out of fifty-four ministers and deputies failed to comply. Additionally, eight out of thirty-two presidential staffers also did not declare their assets.

Thirty-seven heads of state institutions appointed by Mahama are in the same situation. According to The Fourth Estate, 32% of these appointees ignored the directive.

Notable names among those yet to declare include Alhassan Suhuyini and Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui. Other names include John Dumelo and several presidential staffers like Larry Gbevlo-Lartey.

The full list includes:

Ministers and Deputies:
- Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini (Deputy Minister, Roads & Highways)
- Rita Naa Odoley Sowah (Deputy Minister, Local Government)
- Gizella Tettey-Agbotui (Deputy Minister, Works and Housing)
- John Kofi Setor Dumelo (Deputy Minister, Food and Agriculture)

Presidential Staffers:
- Nathan Kofi Boakye (Director of Operations at Presidency)

- Larry Gbevlo-Lartey (Special Envoy)

Mahama's actions emphasize accountability among his appointees regarding asset declarations.
