Bekwai MP Joseph Osei-Owusu has criticized Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin’s leadership, labeling it autocratic.
In a media interview, he compared Bagbin unfavorably to his predecessors, particularly Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, whom he described as more structured and accommodating.
Osei-Owusu accused Bagbin of making unilateral decisions, treating the Speaker’s position as his personal property, and leaving little room for consensus.
However, he clarified that his concerns were professional, not personal.
Bagbin, the first Speaker elected from an opposition party, has faced persistent accusations of bias from the Majority caucus.
His tenure has been marked by intense parliamentary disputes, walkouts, and deadlocks on critical national matters.
