Bagbin refers Supreme Court nominees to Appointments Committee

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has taken action. He referred seven nominees to the Supreme Court. This is for consideration by the Appointments Committee. The referral follows Article 144(2) of the 1992 Constitution.

These nominees were appointed by President Mahama. They include Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei and Justice Gbiel Simon Suurbaareh. Also nominated are Justice Senyo Dzamefe and Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo. Additionally, there are Justice Philip Bright Mensah, Justice Janapare Bartels-Kodwo, and Justice Hafisata Amaleboba.

On Tuesday, May 27, Speaker Bagbin addressed Parliament. He asked the Judiciary Committee and the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee to assist. They will join the Appointments Committee in vetting these nominees.
