Ballot snatching: Carlos Ahenkorah saved NPP from disgrace – Adwoa Safo

Former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Adwoa Safo, says Carlos Ahenkorah’s controversial ballot snatching during the 8th Speaker of Parliament’s election saved the NPP from disgrace.

Speaking on Asempa FM, she explained that revealing the full vote count would have embarrassed the party, forcing Ahenkorah to act.

She also dismissed claims that she voted against Prof. Mike Oquaye, challenging NPP leadership to prove it.

Safo revealed that ahead of the election, MPs had requested multiple nominees from then-President Akufo-Addo due to internal dissatisfaction.

She emphasized her loyalty, stating she wouldn’t have attended if she intended to vote against Oquaye.

Safo added that Speaker Alban Bagbin’s victory was ultimately decided through consensus, not just the votes cast.
