Ban MPs from sitting on boards of public institutions - Dr Rasheed

Dr. Rasheed Draman is the Executive Director of ACEPA. He has called for a ban on MPs serving on public institution boards. He believes this practice creates a clear conflict of interest.

His comments follow concerns from the Minority on Parliament’s Finance Committee. They are worried about a conflict of interest involving their Chairman, Isaac Adongo.

Mr. Adongo also serves on the board of the Bank of Ghana (BoG). His dual roles have raised questions about his objectivity among colleagues.

Dr. Draman spoke on JoyNews’ AM Show on Tuesday, May 20th. He stated that while he sees no issue with MPs sitting on boards, changes are needed. He suggested revising standing orders to prevent MPs from holding any board positions at all.
