Banned Sangria drink still on sale despite FDA recall

Nearly two months after the FDA ordered a recall, Grand Chateaux Sangria Forte is still being sold.

JoyNews checks show that pubs, bars, and shops continue to stock this unregistered drink.

Sellers say a shortage of popular beer brands has increased demand for Sangria.

“Customers buy Grand Chateaux Sangria Forte and Coffee Ram,” said a shop owner.

On March 19, the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) issued a recall for Grand Chateaux Sangria Forte.

This included the Tetra Pak (250ml) and Canned (330ml Pétillante) variants due to safety concerns.

These products were found in Ghana despite not being registered with the FDA.

They were also actively promoted on social media platforms.

The FDA's promise of stricter enforcement has not yet been seen.

This raises concerns about regulatory compliance in the market.
