Rev. Dr. Charles Ampofo addressed the media at the event.
The Ghana Baptist Convention (GBC) held its 62nd Annual Ministers’ Conference. This took place at the Women’s Retreat and Resource Centre in Ejura, Ashanti region.
The theme was “Minister; Pressing Forward, Finishing Strong – Philippians 3:13-14.” Rev. Charles Oppong Opoku, Chairman of the Conference, emphasized that this time is for “refreshing, repurposing and recommitment” to God’s call. He noted that the theme is timely and relevant.
Rev. Oppong urged ministers to recognize their ongoing journey in spreading the gospel. He cited Apostle Paul as a role model and encouraged them to avoid complacency. Ministers should explore more ground for Jesus Christ.
He advised them to let go of “past glories and pains.” Past victories can lead to pride, while past failures can cause bitterness. Therefore, he encouraged ministers to press forward with purpose.
This requires effort, intentionality, sacrifice, and focus. The goal is not just to start well but also to finish strong while maintaining integrity.
Rev. Dr. Charles Owusu Ampofo spoke next as President of GBC Ministers' Conference. He highlighted that this conference is more than a routine gathering or celebration of thanksgiving for seven years of blessings from God.
He expressed gratitude to ministers and former leadership for their support and dedication. Their efforts have made these initiatives possible.
The Guest of Honour was Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, immediate past Chairman of the National Peace Council. He stated that the conference theme addresses current challenges in ministry and focuses on God's work.
Rev. Dr. Adu-Gyamfi stressed that spiritual leaders must guide God's flock effectively while living inspiring lives themselves.
He explained that “finishing well” refers to how one completes their journey rather than just the quality they bring at the end.
