Lawyer and activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor has urged Ghana's Electoral Commission (EC) to televise electoral collation and re-collation processes, arguing that such transparency would build public trust in election results.
Speaking on JoyNews on December 21, Barker-Vormawor criticized the reliance on heavy police presence at collation centers, stating it only heightened tensions without addressing trust issues.
Instead, he proposed setting up giant screens or live-streaming the process to allow real-time public viewing and demystify electoral proceedings.
His call comes amid tensions surrounding re-collation efforts in nine constituencies, with political parties raising concerns about the fairness of the process.
Barker-Vormawor emphasized the need for innovative measures to enhance the EC's credibility and ensure public confidence in election outcomes.
