Prof. Titus Beyuo, the MP for Lambussie, has rejected calls to suspend Sammy Gyamfi. Gyamfi is the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board. This follows public outrage over a viral video featuring Nana Agradaa.
In the video, Gyamfi appears to give U.S. dollars to Nana Agradaa. She is known as a former fetish priestess and now an evangelist. The footage spread quickly on social media and sparked backlash.
The Minority in Parliament demanded Gyamfi's immediate suspension. On Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily, Prof. Beyuo called these demands “baseless” and “politically driven.”
He acknowledged that the incident looked questionable but did not break any laws or procedures. He noted that Gyamfi admitted his actions were ill-advised.
Beyuo stated that while the act may not reflect well on the government, it does not warrant disciplinary action. He emphasized that no specific offenses apply in this case.
He urged critics to let the presidency handle the situation internally. Beyuo mentioned there is already a commitment from the highest office to address it properly.
“I see the call by the Minority as baseless,” he concluded. “Let us leave it to the presidency.”
