The Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Atanga, has reaffirmed the government's full support for the mediation efforts led by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to resolve the ongoing chieftaincy conflict in Bawku.

Speaking during the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration in Bolgatanga on March 31, 2025, Atanga emphasized that resolving the Bawku conflict remains a top priority for the Mahama administration.

He expressed confidence in the Asantehene-led initiative, stressing its potential to bring lasting peace to the troubled region.

Since October 2024, the conflict has claimed approximately 80 lives, including a military officer, and continues to destabilize Bawku and Walewale.

Atanga assured residents that the government is committed to supporting all peace efforts to restore stability.
