Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has observed recent progress in the Bawku conflict. Mediation efforts have led to a period of calm in the area.
He is leading peace talks between the Kusasi and Mamprusi factions. The Asantehene met with representatives from both sides from April 28 to April 30. These discussions were temporarily suspended after that.
On May 12, 2025, he spoke with Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno at Manhyia Palace. Otumfuo said the mediation process will resume soon.
“We are still on the matter,” he stated. “We will meet again to address the issues.” He added that their efforts have brought some calm to Bawku.
Otumfuo promised to update Ghanaians soon about their progress.
