Bawku: Mahama expresses confidence in Otumfuo’s mediation efforts

President John Dramani Mahama has confidence in the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. He believes Otumfuo can help restore peace in Bawku through mediation.

The President praised the Asantehene for his leadership in resolving the Dagbon chieftaincy conflict. This conflict lasted 16 years and ended with lasting peace. Mahama hopes for similar progress in Bawku under Otumfuo's guidance.

These comments were made during a courtesy call on June 2. The Asantehene led a delegation of eminent chiefs to meet the President.

Mahama acknowledged Otumfuo's steady hand and moral support as chair of the committee of eminent chiefs. He noted that Otumfuo helped Dagbon move from division to reconciliation.

The President emphasized that Otumfuo is stepping forward to assist during a critical time. His efforts to mediate the Bawku conflict are complex but hopeful. Mahama expressed confidence that lasting peace will come to Bawku through these efforts.
