Dr. Frank Serebour is the President of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA). He stated that no medical practitioners in Bawku have been attacked. This was during a discussion on JoyNews’ The Pulse programme on April 15.
He addressed concerns about health facility staff leaving due to fear. Dr. Serebour emphasized that no doctor has been specifically targeted. “This offers us some comfort,” he said.
If any staff member's life is threatened, they will be relocated quickly for safety. However, at least ten medical practitioners have left the region due to the conflict's escalation.
Recently, armed robbers shot and killed two police officers in Poyamirea. This community is located on the outskirts of Binduri in the Upper East Region.
