Bawku conflict: Otumfuo’s mediation yielding positive results, let’s de-escalate -Minority

The Minority in Parliament has praised the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. They commend his mediation efforts in the Bawku conflict. They describe these efforts as constructive and effective.

Their praise follows renewed violence on April 10. Clashes occurred between police and local youth, causing casualties and injuries. The private home of MP Mahama Ayariga was reportedly set on fire during this unrest.

At a press briefing in Accra on April 11, Rev. Ntim Fordjour spoke out. He called for calm and urged all parties to support peace efforts. "So far, very diligent steps have been taken by the Asantehene," he said.

Rev. Fordjour highlighted the importance of reducing tensions in Bawku. He stated that de-escalation is necessary for mediation to continue smoothly.

The Minority reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful initiatives aimed at resolving the conflict in Bawku. They believe that Otumfuo's mediation can lead to lasting peace in the area.
