Bawumia breached NIB, EOCO agreement- Kwakye Ofosu on why he was denied access to Wontumi

Government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu explained why former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia could not meet Chairman Wontumi.

He stated that there was a procedure agreed upon with Bawumia's office. However, Dr. Bawumia did not follow this process. This is why he could not see Wontumi.

“There was an agreement for him to come with a few people,” Felix said in an interview with Oyerepa TV. “But he arrived with many people, breaching the agreement.”

Felix added that he does not believe Dr. Bawumia's visit would have changed anything. He noted that Bawumia did not honor the agreement with EOCO and NIB.

Chairman Wontumi has been arrested by EOCO for fraud and money laundering, among other crimes.

Although Wontumi has been granted bail, he has not been released yet. His lawyers provided the bail bond but were informed of a pending court application to vary it.

They hope to secure his release from custody today.
