Osman Ayariga, the Acting CEO of the National Youth Authority, criticized former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He called Bawumia a con artist.
Ayariga spoke on GHONE TV. He claimed Bawumia is trying to deceive the NPP and Ghanaians. “Bawumia’s apology is very dishonest,” he stated. He described it as theatrics typical of a con artist.
Ayariga questioned Bawumia's sincerity. “Where was this remorse when the economy was sinking?” he asked. He also wondered about Bawumia's humility during high inflation and currency issues.
He emphasized that Bawumia is not genuinely changed. “He’s trying to deceive the NPP and Ghanaians,” Ayariga said. He labeled Bawumia’s apology as dishonest.
Ayariga believes Ghanaians are aware of this deception. “They won’t fall for this staged humility,” he argued. He sees it as desperation, not transformation.
These comments followed Dr. Bawumia's recent apology to Ghanaians for the NPP's shortcomings. He acknowledged that while the NPP did good work, mistakes were made.
Speaking in London, Dr. Bawumia said, “We did not get everything right.” He apologized on behalf of himself and the party for their failures.
Dr. Bawumia expressed hope for future improvements if given another chance. “We have learned lessons from where we are going,” he added.
