Veteran journalist Kwesi Pratt Jnr has criticized former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He accused Bawumia of trying to take credit for the recent appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi.
Pratt said Bawumia lacks the moral authority to comment on the currency's performance. He pointed out that Bawumia oversaw years of economic decline.
During a panel discussion on Good Morning Ghana, hosted by Moro Awudu, Pratt expressed his views. He questioned, “What right does Dr. Bawumia have to lecture us on the cedi?”
He noted that the dollar rose from GHS3 to nearly GHS17 during Bawumia's leadership. Pratt reminded everyone that Bawumia promised the cedi would not depreciate under his watch.
Pratt accused Bawumia of arrogance and dishonesty. He criticized him for claiming credit for improvements in the cedi’s value. These gains were made under the new National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration led by President John Dramani Mahama.
