Nana Akomea, a senior member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), defended Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He rejected claims that Bawumia is distancing himself from the party's challenges before the December elections.
“Dr. Bawumia did not shift blame, as Palgrave Boakye-Danquah suggested,” Akomea stated firmly.
His defense follows criticism from Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah. The former Government Spokesperson accused Bawumia of separating himself from the administration's failures.
Boakye-Danquah mentioned the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP). This program caused financial distress and protests by pensioners. He called Bawumia’s actions disloyal for trying to shift blame for economic hardships.
In response, Nana Akomea dismissed these accusations. He insisted that Bawumia has been open about the party's challenges.
Bawumia publicly acknowledged these issues and apologized to supporters. He expressed his commitment to addressing them, receiving applause from grassroots members.
Akomea emphasized the need for genuine efforts to reconnect with their base. “The NPP must rebuild trust by acknowledging past mistakes,” he said.
He added that working sincerely to restore confidence is crucial. “Dr. Bawumia’s message of unity and accountability is what the party needs,” he concluded.
