A new poll by Global InfoAnalytics shows Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the top candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position. This is ahead of the 2028 general election.
The survey reveals that 48% of Ghanaians prefer Dr. Bawumia to lead the party again. He is clearly the front-runner in the race for NPP leadership.
Dr. Bawumia has a significant lead over other contenders. Kennedy Agyapong, who ran in the 2024 NPP primaries, received 25% of votes. Dr. Osei Adutwum secured 13%.
The remaining candidates together got 14%. These numbers show competition within the party, but Dr. Bawumia is still the preferred choice among voters.
Support for Dr. Bawumia is even stronger among NPP voters, with 57% backing him. Kennedy Agyapong follows with 22%, and Dr. Osei Adutwum has 11%.
This indicates that within the party's core base, Dr. Bawumia has overwhelming approval.
Although party delegates will make the final decision on NPP’s flagbearer, this poll highlights Dr. Bawumia’s popularity.
His strong support from both Ghanaians and NPP members suggests he remains a key figure in Ghanaian politics. This sets up an interesting leadership contest in the coming years.
