Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is deeply saddened by the death of Pope Francis. He called the Pope a global icon of peace, humility, and inclusiveness.
In a social media statement, Dr. Bawumia expressed his grief. He said, “It is with deep grief that I learned of the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis.” He described the late Pope as a man of unwavering peace and compassion.
Dr. Bawumia recalled meeting Pope Francis at the Vatican last year. He was moved by the Pope’s gentle spirit and strong moral compass. “He left such a remarkable impression on me,” he noted.
Dr. Bawumia extended his condolences to the Catholic community in Ghana and worldwide. He said, “I join the Catholic community in Ghana and worldwide to mourn this huge loss.”
He added, “Please accept my most sincere condolences.” Dr. Bawumia hopes that the Pope's legacy will inspire everyone to pursue their individual mandates on earth.
