Policy advocate Serlom Branttie has alleged that the cost of Ghana’s e-immigration project soared from $20 million to $240 million under Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s supervision.
In a viral Facebook post, Branttie accused the project of saddling air travelers with an $11 verification surcharge, allegedly funneling $11 million annually to private entities linked to the Vice President’s allies.
Branttie criticized Dr. Bawumia’s fiscal policies, calling the situation “hypocrisy” and urging Ghanaians to “choose their leaders wisely.”
Civil society groups are demanding an independent probe as public outrage grows.
With the Vice President’s office silent on the claims, critics warn of lasting damage to leadership credibility if transparency isn’t prioritized, especially with the December 2024 elections fast approaching.
