Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, a former government spokesperson, criticized Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He accused Bawumia of distancing himself from the failures of their administration.
On Joy News, Dr. Boakye-Danquah said this selective distancing includes the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP). This program caused financial distress and protests by pensioners. He called Bawumia's blame-shifting for economic hardships disloyal.
These comments followed Dr. Bawumia’s remarks during the NPP’s Thank You tour in Takoradi. He acknowledged mistakes that led to the party's defeat in the December 7, 2024 elections.
Bawumia stated, “We refused to listen.” He mentioned key issues like cost of living and arrogance of power. He noted that they ignored advice on reshuffling ministerial portfolios and implementing the e-levy.
Bawumia’s admission revealed internal challenges within the NPP during their governance. His comments highlighted how ignoring advice contributed to their electoral loss.
At the same event, former Assin Central MP Ken Ohene Agyapong emphasized unity within the NPP. He quoted scripture: “A house that is divided against itself will not stand.” This reference aimed to encourage cohesion ahead of future elections.
