Bawumia was never in support of E-levy – Miracles Aboagye

Dennis Miracles Aboagye is an aide to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Dr. Bawumia is the 2024 Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Aboagye clarified that Dr. Bawumia never supported the Electronic Transaction Levy (E-Levy).

This clarification comes after Dr. Bawumia's recent comments. He mentioned several factors behind the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections. These include arrogance of power, high living costs, and government reshuffles.

In an interview with Charles Owusu-Kumi on Channel One Newsroom, Aboagye spoke about Dr. Bawumia's stance on E-Levy. He stated that Dr. Bawumia has consistently opposed taxing digital transactions.

Aboagye said, “If you have a leader who admits shortfalls, you can trust them.” He added that acknowledging challenges is key to solving them.

Dr. Bawumia recognized the high cost of living and proposed solutions for it. Aboagye emphasized that he has always opposed E-Levy publicly.

He believes Dr. Bawumia’s honesty about party shortcomings helps rebuild the NPP. “It’s better to address these issues than pretend they don’t exist,” he said.
