Bear with us – Jinapor appeals as electricity tariffs go up

Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has addressed Ghanaians. He urged them to be patient as electricity tariffs will rise by 14.75%. This increase takes effect on May 3, 2025.

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) announced this tariff adjustment. It aims to stabilize the energy sector and tackle financial issues.

Mr. Jinapor spoke at a Committee of Ministers meeting in Accra. He highlighted the need for this review to maintain power supply. It also supports ongoing reforms in the energy sector.

He appealed to Ghanaians to understand these tough decisions. These changes are necessary for stable and reliable power sources. They are crucial for the country's economic development.
