Being antagonistic unduly is not the best – Minister to School Feeding workers

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, is disappointed with some school feeding caterers. This follows the government's termination of their contracts.

In an interview with Emmanuel Agyabeng on Starr Today, Dr. Lartey stressed the need for dialogue. She highlighted the importance of mutual understanding, especially since most caterers are women.

“When I first met them, I suggested we talk things over,” she said. “Their views can help improve our ministry and program.”

Her comments come as affected caterers protest publicly. Many have worn red bands to show their grievances. However, the Minister criticized this approach.

“After our discussions, they choose to wear red bands,” she noted. “While it's their right to express themselves, being confrontational isn't helpful.”

Dr. Lartey acknowledged their frustration but urged them to think about the bigger picture.

“I sympathize with what they are going through,” she said. “It’s important for them to voice their feelings. But I also have a duty to serve the nation and its children.”
