Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has extended his contract with Accra Hearts of Oak. He signed a two-year deal, keeping him at the club until 2027.
The contract was finalized after positive discussions with the club’s board. Asare is currently having an outstanding season for both his club and country.
He joined Hearts of Oak from Great Olympics last season. Since then, he has become a key player, captaining the team and establishing himself as Ghana's top goalkeeper.
The club announced the news in an official release. "We are happy to announce that Benjamin Asare has extended his contract," they stated.
Asare's impressive performance includes 13 clean sheets in 20 league matches. He also achieved back-to-back clean sheets on his Black Stars debut against Chad and Madagascar.
His success attracted interest from North African clubs like Raja Casablanca and CR Belouizdad. However, the 32-year-old chose to stay loyal to Hearts of Oak.
Executive Board Chairman Togbe Afede XIV praised Asare’s professionalism and leadership. He commended Asare's impact on and off the pitch, encouraging other players to follow his example.
Asare expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by the club. “I feel really excited to play for one of the biggest clubs,” he said.
He added that extending his contract is a way to repay their confidence in him. With his future secured, Asare aims to lead Hearts to greater success domestically and in continental competitions.
