Benjamin Zigorsh-Nyakpenu assumes duty as Deputy Registrar of Companies

Benjamin Zigorsh-Nyakpenu is now the First Deputy Registrar of Companies.

He was introduced to management by Acting Registrar Maame Samma Peprah. This meeting took place on Thursday, March 20, 2025.

His appointment follows Article 195 of the Constitution and Section 363(1) of the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992).

Mrs. Peprah stated that his role will enhance operational efficiency. She recognized his experience and leadership abilities.

She welcomed him on behalf of management and expressed confidence in his expertise.

Mr. Zigorsh-Nyakpenu thanked everyone for their warm reception. He promised to maintain an open-door policy and promote inclusivity.

He emphasized teamwork, saying, “Let’s see ourselves as a unit willing to work together.”

The Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) handles corporate registration and regulation in the country.

Its mission is to provide efficient services that support economic growth. The ORC was established by the Companies Act 2019 (Act 992).

The Act mandates the ORC and its deputies to perform assigned functions. Section 363(1) states that the President appoints necessary staff for effective operations.

As First Deputy Registrar, Mr. Zigorsh-Nyakpenu will oversee daily operations. He will ensure compliance with regulations and implement new strategies for improvement.

Benjamin Zigorsh-Nyakpenu is a lawyer with extensive experience in corporate law. He has a strong background in banking, financial law, oil and gas, and dispute resolution.

He is skilled in legal consultancy and corporate structuring for businesses. His previous roles include practicing at Thompson Law Consult and Hales Solicitors.

He also worked at the National Investment Bank Ltd., focusing on corporate lending and finance transactions. Additionally, he has consulted for multinational corporations on compliance matters.

Mr. Zigorsh-Nyakpenu holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Ghana (2008). He earned an LLB in 2011 and was called to the Bar in 2013 after attending law school.

He also obtained an LLM in Oil and Gas Law from the University of Ghana (2019).
