Parliament has confirmed the composition of its Appointments Committee, tasked with vetting presidential nominees for ministerial and other key roles.
The committee will be chaired by First Deputy Speaker Bernard Ahiafor, with Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah as Vice Chairperson. Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin will serve as Ranking Member, supported by Patricia Appiagyei as Deputy Ranking Member.
This critical body is responsible for scrutinizing and recommending the approval of nominees for ministerial positions and other constitutional appointments.
Majority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, presenting the committee’s report in Parliament on January 8, 2025, emphasized the importance of the committee's work and urged members to adopt the composition based on the 183-to-88 ratio.
The approved committee is set to begin its duties.
