“You’re Repeating NPP’s Mistakes”: Barker-Vormawor Reprimands Mahama-Led NDC
Oliver Barker-Vormawor has criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He claims they are repeating mistakes made by the New Patriotic Party (NPP). His comments follow the arrest of NPP activist Alfred Ababio Kumi.
Barker-Vormawor, a lawyer and activist, expressed his concerns on Facebook. He described the arrest as “overzealous policing.” He warned that such actions could lead to negative consequences for the NDC.
He stated, “If you keep getting distracted by Ababio Kumi, you will be led down a path of no return.” Barker-Vormawor cautioned that similar actions contributed to the NPP's defeat in 2024.
He mentioned he would support arrests only if they relate to serious issues. “If someone engages in unnecessary propaganda, showing them power will backfire,” he added.
Barker-Vormawor concluded by asking if the NDC misses being in opposition.
Reactions from Ghanaians varied widely. Shad Moss commented on the weakness of national security under this government. Agunga Bruno noted that arrests often lead to no real consequences.
Maxwell Osei criticized the government's showmanship in handling these situations. Derrick Okrah warned that mistakes could lead to severe repercussions for the NDC if they lose power again.
Leonard Vidogah challenged Barker-Vormawor’s facts and urged him to avoid sentiment-driven arguments.
