Binduri: Palace of sub-chief attacked, one killed

A violent attack on the night of April 9, 2025, at Poayamire in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region has left a sub-chief and two others shot, resulting in one fatality.

The victims, including the sub-chief Naba Atamburi and two family members, sustained gunshot wounds when unidentified gunmen stormed the palace. They were rushed to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, but one of them tragically died on the way.

Although the exact motive is still unclear, residents suspect the incident is connected to the ongoing conflict in Bawku, which has been flaring since October 2024. The latest attack comes amid heightened tensions following allegations of police involvement in a recent killing.

So far, the renewed conflict in Bawku has claimed at least 83 lives.
